These boots are made for walking

Do any of you remember that song? I have it running through my head now. I think the only reason I know it is from dance class when I was in elementary school. Anyhow, Carly found these boots in Josh's dresser drawer. They were Jarod's when he was a little boy, and his mom brought them up for Josh. Josh is still pretty small for them, but Carly has decided they fit her just right. She's been wearing them everywhere no matter what the occasion, or what she's wearing...with the exception of church. I think she looks pretty darn cute in them, so I don't mind that she looks a little hickish...I know, it's not a word. Jarod also got the kids a new Harley hat, and I think Carly's is just darling. She looks like such a cute little cowgirl.

Wrestle Mania

The title of this blog is dedicated to my dad, who, although I never would have expected it, watches the WWE Friday night smack down. This post is not, however, dedicated to displays of shiny men in tight pants performing well, or not so well choreographed fights.

The kids love to wrestle with Jarod. They were having a great time climbing up on his back and falling off.

Sea World!

A few weeks ago, we took a little trip with my parents to Sea World in San Antonio. It was a day full of sun, shows, and sweating. We had a great time. We arrived in the early afternoon, just in time for the dolphin and beluga whale show. It was really great. Josh just loves dolphins, and kept saying "wow" when they would jump or swim by.

There was a lot to see. We stopped by the shark and ray aquarium and watched the rays at feeding time. The trainers get right in the tank with them for feedings...the rays, not the sharks. We also made it to the dolphin pool in time to feed them. The idea was to have the kids do it, but they were happy to let their daddy hold the stinky fish for the dolphins. They loved seeing the dolphins so close. Carly was fascinated by their zipper like teeth. There was no way she was putting her hand over the water.

We also stood in the line for 45 minutes with the two bigger kids to ride the log ride. Carly rode with Papa and Josh rode with Mommy and Daddy, while Jack watched from the sidelines with Mama.

Jarod had a fun taking Carly on her first roller coaster. She had the best time on the "whale train". Jarod told her to put her hands up the whole way, before the ride started...he was only able to convince her the first time around the loop. Of course, when the ride was over, she was begging to do it again.

While Jarod and Carly rode the roller coaster, I introduced Josh to fishing for overpriced stuffed animals. He loved it. I was pretty excited about our cheap stuffed frog.

We also really enjoyed the sea lion show. They had sea lions, an otter, and a walrus. I thought the best trick was having the giant walrus do sit ups.

After the sea lion show we made our way over to the Shamu pavilion. We were pretty excited to see what the killer whales could do. After half an hour of sitting in the hot stale air, the show started. It was disappointing to say the least. There were four whales, and unfortunately, the trainers couldn't get them to do anything they were supposed to. They kept taking them into the holding tanks, then bringing them back out...and they didn't get anything out of them for the entire show. Talk about an anticlimactic end to our day.

Josh was so tuckered out that he fell asleep just about as soon as we put him in the stroller after the Shamu show.

Jack's First Haircut

My mom gave my boys a hair cut, while I tried to hold them still. Josh hates to get his hair cut...I mean screaming and crying like we were sawing his arms off, the whole time, hates it. The unfortunate thing about it is that his hair grows fast. Of course, being the loving mommy that I am, I try to spare him the torture of getting his hair cut, by letting him go as long as I can stand it. Needless to say, when I decided it was finally time to cut Jack's hair, I was nervous for his reaction. He did a great job. Squirmy, but then again, he is only 9 months. I think his hairdo makes him look like a little man.

What's a Fancy Girls to Do??

We went shopping a while ago...I know, it's been forever since I've blogged anything...is blogged a word? I ended up getting Carly some silky jammies, with Ariel on one set, and a Disney princesses nightgown. Needless to say, my fancy girl loved them. Target also had princess tiaras, necklaces, earrings, etc. all for one dollar. How can you pass that deal up, right? As soon as we got back to my folks' house after shopping, Carly had to put her outfit together, and then wanted her picture taken. I hope I haven't created a diva!

Okay, so I know this picture is sideways...can one of you computer/blog whiz kids tell me how to turn them?

Galveston Island Paradise

A couple weekends ago we took advantage of Jarod having Mondays off for a little weekend family vacation. We went to Galveston for some beach fun. Jarod and I went to Galveston for our over-night honeymoon. We didn't really get to take advantage of the sites when we were there, so we've had fun the last couple years taking the kids to see the sites. Last year we spent all day at the different Moody Garden venues. They have a great aquarium and rain forest, among other things. This year we decided to stay at the Moody Gardens resort/hotel, and take advantage of the white sands beach there are the resort. It was a lot of fun. The kids had a great time, and everyone was sufficiently worn out at the end. Here are some pictures from our time at the beach...the other pictures we took with my camera are lost, because Carly got a hold of the camera when I wasn't around, and broke it. It's very tragic, but at least now I have an excuse to get a new camera, since I've been wanting one so badly...(these pictures were taken with a disposable waterproof camera.)

Josh loved to jump and splash in the water. He loves to swim.
Everyone had a good time in the water. Jack wanted to get in on the splashing and swimming, too. He should be a lot of fun next year.
Josh was saying "jump in the water" as he and Carly jumped up and down in the water, splashing each other. Josh is fearless when it comes to swimming. He had his trusty Dolphin the whole time...true Josh style...always with a toy in his hand.
There were lots of great waterfalls.
There was a sprinkler area...I think Jack was the bravest one there. The other two took some warming up to getting splashed, sprayed, and dumped on.
They got a kick out of spraying Mommy and Daddy with the seahorse water gun.
All in all it was a great time, and we're glad we went to the white sands beach instead of the ocean beach. There were restrooms, changing areas, lockers, concessions, and clean water and sand. It was a great time. The changing areas alone made it worth while. Last year we changed on the side of Sea Wall while a never ending group of lifeguards in training ran by.

Happy 4th of July!

Okay, so I know it's a little late to be posting a July 4th blurb, but it's been a while since I've posted anything, and we had an exciting fourth. We sold our F150 in June, and have been looking for a 'Hot Rod' for Jarod for some time. We had a 1969 Chevy C10 short bed a little while ago, but sold it. Jarod found this 1954 Chevy, and it is in incredible condition. We got a great deal on it, considering the great shape it's in. The kids absolutely love it. It's fun to ride around town in it and get thumbs up, honks, and waves from everyone.

Our pool is just a couple houses down, so we drive the Chevy down when we take a swim. The kids think that's the only way to get to the pool now. Carly and Josh just love Daddy's "green car".
