June 2012

The summer of 2012 was a busy one for us.  Mama and Papa Skinner came to stay for a couple weeks.  It was jam packed with fun. Jarod entertained us with his cute antics.

These are the Easter Lillies I almost pulled up when we moved in.  Such an odd looking plant.
Carly said "Jarod is curious!" Maybe we need baby locks on our cupboards...
He preferred to be held in the water...not floating on his own. We were lucky to live near the Gardners who opened up their pool to us.  They were such a blessing in our lives in Bakersfield.
We took a trip to the nature center.  The kids loved feeding the goats.
Our last big preschool hurrah with Jack's friends was to grow a butterfly habitat and watch the butterflies go through the entire life cycle.  It was awesome to watch!

Jarod is cute, no matter what.  He loved Karen, for obvious reasons.

When Mama and Papa came to town, we did what we would do with all our visitors...we took a trip to Murray Family Farms to pick fruit!  We came home with blueberries and strawberries to last us weeks!

Daddy took Carly to get a haircut.  She came home with a very stylish 'do that was quite a bit shorter than I was expecting.
LEGOLAND with Mama and Papa was the best!!  The kids had gotten free tickets through the library reading program.

Carly was having such a great time on this ride. Her smile says it all.

The kids loved the Lego town.  They had some really incredible displays.  We enjoyed the Star Wars themed displays the most.

Mama was getting fresh with the Lego old man. :)
It seems that whenever my folks come to town, they find ways to help me.  This time they helped me attack the weeds in the yard.  I absolutely love this picture of Papa and Baby Jarod. I'm so grateful for the fun memories my kids have of their grandparents.
Insect Lore is also a must visit.  It's mostly a store, but they have some great insects on display.  We were lucky we went when we did.  The manager was there, and he was so kind to take out different insects for the kids to look at and touch if they wanted.

I was blown away that Josh was willing to touch the hissing cockroaches! EEWWW!

Jarod got his first hair cut!

Goodbye curly locks! Hello big boy!
Instead of driving all the way out to General Grant or General Sherman, we went someplace new to everyone.  The Trail of 100 Giants was very impressive!  There was a tree that had fallen very recently.

We must always climb in the trees!

Brother Traynor took us out on the Kern River near our house to do some kayaking.

Josh lost his tooth!
