The months of January-April were kind of a blur. We prepared to sell two houses in two different states, and buy a house in another. Throughout the entire process we witnessed the Lord's hand in our lives. Our California house sold in record time. We had 23 viewings in two days, and a handful of offers. The house ended up selling for 40k more than we bought it for.
While we were showing the house, we spent time at the park.
Jarod spent the time between being hired and our move working out of town M-F. It was stressful making house decisions on my own, taking care of the kids, and preparing to move without him. I was so lucky to have great friends to help with everything.
In March my mom came to watch the kids for a week while Jarod and I went house hunting in Nashville. We saw more than twenty houses in two days, in three different cities. We finally settled on our home in Murfreesboro, TN. While house hunting, we spent time downtown checking out the city.
Buy one get two free at the Boot Barn. I didn't get any, but I loved these.
The Ryman theater
Before leaving California we took a trip to Hollywood, and Santa Monica. I wanted to see the Hollywood sign before moving.
The Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA
We spent time with friends before leaving. It was hard to say goodbye to our friends. We were blessed beyond measure in the friendships we developed in Bakersfield.
The Traynors were such a large part of our lives in California.
Valdivieso cousins
Grandma Tess came to see us and say goodbye on our last day in the house.
The Morris' let us stay in their house two nights while we waiting for our closing date. The California house closed two weeks after it was supposed to. We actually closed on the Texas house and California house on the same day. It was a very nerve-wracking time.
Richard took us to breakfast the morning we left town. It was a tearful goodbye. He was so good to us, and continues to be. He was there for us in a great time of need, providing friendship, mentorship, and love. He's been a kind of third grandpa for our kids.
We had two weeks between the time we left California and when our new house in Tennessee would be available. We spent that time in Texas with Mama and Papa Skinner. We had a great time seeing our Texas friends.
I practiced French braiding.
While in Texas we tied up the loose ends on our home, and signed the closing documents. It was such a relief to have both houses sold. What started out as a huge trial in our lives turned into an enormous blessing.
On our way to Tennessee we stopped for In N Out in Dallas. It was fun to have a last taste of California before starting our new lives in Tennessee.
