We took advantage of Jarod's day off to go to the botanical gardens in Zilker park. They happened to have a dinosaur exhibit going on, so of course the kids wanted to check it out. Josh absolutely loves dinosaurs. I love hearing him say it.
Part of the exhibit had us walking through a butterfly garden. It was beautiful, and I'm a real sucker for butterflies. I wish I could have gotten some better pictures of them...I guess that's the thing about butterflies though...they don't hold still very long.
The kids have gotten pretty good at saying "cheese" whenever the camera is pointed at them. I love Josh's expression.
They were a cute pair, exploring together.

This is a wall from an historic building in Austin built in the 1800s. The house has since been demolished, but this 'key hole' wall was preserved and moved to the botanical gardens. Neat.

They had these neat butterfly benches in the butterfly garden. The kids loved them.

There were several large exhibits like this one, with explanations of each dinosaur.

It was such a fun way to spend the day, enjoying the outdoors.
That's an awesome t-rex. Funny how the things your kids are obsessed with take on a new light, huh? I'm always checking out dinosaurs now since Jack loves them, too.
ReplyDeletei spy some thomas stickers!! they are getting too big! kyle is currently freaking out over how big carly is getting. then jack but not josh... apparently his growth has been stunted
ReplyDeleteThey had a similar Dinosaur display at Red Butte Gardens in Salt Lake two years ago. I wonder if they're a traveling dinosaur exhibit.
ReplyDeletePS... I love how Josh is looking up at his daddy in the last picture.
